Today witnessed the toughest climb of Shiretoko Pass from the west coast of Otoro to the east coast of Rausu, a steady ascent of 17 km to the top at 721 m where Mt Rausu view is so close. From far is the big island occupied by Russia still claim by the Japanese. The downhill of almost the same distance was wonderful but was worried about the disc brake getting overheated, so i control my speed with several stops to cool down the disc. Rausu is a fishing town where lots of Salmons swimming from the sea back to the many river mouth upstreams, the fishermen really have a field day. After getting my supply i continued the ride along the sea coast where there is a camping ground 13 km from Rausu town. Again everything is closed and this time i learnt my lesson from previous camping, i filled up my bottle with water from the convenient shop much earlier.
