The weather today is bright and sunny,a total different from yesterday raining all day long.So it is about time to pack up and start riding. When i finished packing and ready, but Ken and Hsiu-Hsiu is still in bed, so its better to wait for them than just leave without saying thank you. By 8 am, they woke up and Hsiu-Hsia quickly prepared the breakfast and i signed up the visited book, we took a picture in front of the house, before we finally say goodbye. Ken has lend me his Touring mapple map of Hokkaido, that will be a big help for me , but I will make sure to send the booklet back by post when i completed my Hokkaido tour. It was still darn cold when i started my first pedal at 8.30 am, it feel a lot more comfortable to put on another layer of windbreaker jacket. As told route 12 will go direct to Sapporo, the street was quite busy with students cycling to school and being a weekday, the workers were going to work. Most of the local cyclists rode on the bike lane sharing with pedestrian, but it was hard for me to follow them,as my bike is fully loaded. So i only stick to the road and happy with about 3 feet of shoulder. With just 15 km on the road,i had a broken chain problem to deal with, i took just 30 min to fix it. Not much of a scenery as i shifted a gear faster to get out from the busy road, the road changed to another route 275 which was straighter and with wide shoulder. There is another coastal route 231 which i wanted to avoid as the headwind will be strong. I had my lunch of spaghetti ( 398 yen ) and a cup of hot coffee (100 yen ) at 7-11 in Tobetsu. Feeling great and energized as now i am out from the busy road into more countryside scenery of paddies farming . I decided to stop early on my very first day ride, when i pump into a very beautiful lake park in Tsukigata, there is camping facilities with just 200 yen as park maintenance fee. The time is only 3 pm and the sun is still shining.
