Everybody were very excited on our very 1st ride, getting up early to do the last preparation, making sure everything is in order. After we cooked our own breakfast of instant noodles in the guest house and rolled out our bikes down the staircase, Tim came in time 9am to lead us out from the city to the Hangang River bike path, also joining us from the HRR cycling club are Dave and Marin, so we are fully guided and protected for the 1st day ride. With a few turns here and there on the main street, soon we were joining many others local cyclists pilling on this beautiful bike path on a beautiful Sunday morning. You could see all sorts of bikes, roadies, mtbs, tandems, trailers with kids pulling by the fathers, even I saw a semi recumbent tandem and a swb recumbent with 26"x 26" high racer. There were many rest stops and facilities specially cater for the comfort of cyclists like toilets, water fountains, chairs, information board with detail cycling routes, convenient shops to enjoy a hot coffee or a bottle of cold drinks. We totally enjoy our ride! Marin had to leave us early as she has something to catch up, follow by Dave who was a very strong rider. We had a very late lunch in Gusu Station near Yangyeong where Tim bid us goodbye after a call to his wife. On behalf of the group,I would like to say a BIG Thank You Tim, Dave and Marin for spending your precious time with us.From here, taking over the leader role is non other than our organizer Yong ,armed with both the GPS and the bike path booklet, a very confident Yong never let the group down, and successfully we found our intended free camping ground in Ipubo at almost 7pm, minus Nabil and Bunny who decided to stay in a more comfortable hotel nearby.
With darkness looming,we quickly set up our tents and later had our shower in the bath room just across the road. Some cooked their dinner with rice, but I just make do with a packet of instant noodle, a cup of coffee and one apple. We continued to have a wonderful time together, singing, talking, and there goes a whole bottle of whisky before everyone went into their respective tents for a very cold night sleep.
